RYAN + KAILE at THE CITIZEN HOTEL, SACRAMENTO, CA.
While I seem to post many adventure outdoor weddings these days in the snow and on mountaintops, via Instagram and Facebook, I also do photograph many other weddings all over the map, like this wonderful couple, Ryan and Kaile, who married at The Citizen Hotel Sacramento. We met last year over coffee and discussed the opportunity of shooting their downtown winter, possibly rainy wedding, and how they wanted me to document those special moments with their family. When I arrived early on the wedding day to set-up, I ran into both fathers and we talked for a little. I told them they raised good kids. Ryan and Kaile are both wonderful family loving people. Later that evening, Kaile’s mother showed me some old photographs of Ryan and Kaile as kids together. That’s correct, they have been friends since childhood, went to prom together, and are now best friends in marriage. It’s such a rare and beautiful story. After spending time and watching my couple and their parents for the day, I was impressed by their connection to each other, warmth towards me and their guests, and their relationship with God.
For me and many photographers, wedding season is all year. But to kick off this 2016 year with already a few warm-hearted weddings, makes my job capturing couples and families that much greater. I’m inspired from weddings like this; it makes me want to be a better father and husband. Congratulations and blessings to you both Ryan and Kaile and to your family.
