Rush Creek Lodge Wedding Photography
Yosemite National Park Wedding Photographer
Corey and Amy booked me for their wedding at Rush Creek Lodge in Yosemite National Park. I have photographed many weddings and elopements in national parks, but it’s always great photographing an adventurous wedding near my home with a great couple at the Rush Creek. I stay their often, but they also have some of the best food. Plus, their staff and wedding team is top notch.
I arrived for just before the ceremony to capture them getting ready. Their vows were to be exchanged up the hill behind the Rush Creek property in the wilderness. They had a round arch with red roses and all kinds flowers designed as their backdrop. A handful of family and friends gathered for their intimate ceremony and celebrated as they left for adventure photos in park. It’s about 30-45 minutes drive down to the valley depending on traffic.
We drove down to Yosemite Valley first for some photos in the meadows with half-dome in the background and bridal Veil Falls (which doesn’t flow much in September). Then we drove up Glacier Point Road for some sunset adventure photos at Glacier Point, and Taft Point. Usually you plan for an hour drive with traffic from the valley to Glacier. We captured some photos at Glacier Point while there was still sun, then left to Taft point parking lot.
There ended up being four wedding couples at Taft Point for sunset photos, so I took my couple to another location instead.
It’s getting crowded there now since last year, having to share time with other couples at the cliff. I have many weddings booked in Yosemite. What I’m starting to observe is more wedding and eloping couples clogging up Taft point. What does that mean, but couples must share the spot, unless you have a permit. If you have a permit, then everyone has to work around them
As for us, we just avoided the four couples and instead went to a different location. We were awarded with epic sunset views with barely anyone around. Congratulations to Corey and Amy on their epic wedding.
