Norway Elopement Photographer
Charleton Churchill Photography
I arrived in Bergen, Norway and it was pouring rain. Jennifer and Sondre were so kind and hospitable. Excitement was in the air to photograph them in the beautiful scenic backdrops we had planned. We set out to hike far in the wilderness to get some epic elopement photos, close to 22 miles. As we were hiking, we discovered the trail was hidden by deep snow. Thus, we had to turn around. The dangerous cliffs, plus the visibility would be pretty horrible on top of wet hair and droopy makeup that would eventually show. I felt like our Norway elopement just got taken away.
Since it was pouring rain, my couple said they wanted to fly north of Norway the following day to where it was sunny. It’s difficult to get images in the rain. Besides, this new mountain region was a destination I had wanted to hike anyway. The locations I had researched were still fresh in my head. I had never seen any couples getting married there, just lonely hikers. Let’s just say I love capturing couples where couples have never gone. It’s an adventure.
The Adventure
So after a flat tire in the pouring rain late at night on my rental car with bald tires and a fix-it kit that didn’t work on close to two hours of sleep, we jumped on an early flight and headed to Tromso, Norway. We drove quite a while through the fall colors. After arriving in the general area, we began asking locals for directions to the mountain and started hiking. Up the mountains and hills, we darted upward, not knowing exactly the path to our location or the exact mountain I had studied before. However, we finally discovered it after scouring the mountain. Not only did we find the epic mountain, but the perfect sunset with our adventurous couple. This Norway elopement felt like it just started.
After staying until sundown, we flew to a different part of the country with little sleep again. Ready to hike to another location for more adventure wedding photos, we fueled up on carbs and crossed many bridges. The day was cut short because my couple had prior commitments. However, we captured what we needed. It was an adventure and I hope to return to explore more areas that are on my list of adventures.
Thank you Sondre and Jennifer for inviting me to capture your elopement photos in Norway.
