Castello di Amorosa Engagement Couples Photography session

I drove to Calistoga to photograph one of my gracious engaged couples with probably one of the most beautiful properties I’ve seen in the Napa Valley. Jennifer and Jason are a New York couple who flew out to the Castello di Amorosa for some engagement photos. They called me early on to capture their pre-wedding photos, creatively. I did my research before arriving, but when I showed up, the Castle was more complex than I imagined, with more tunnels, chambers, hallways, courtyards, lakes, and rivers throughout the property. In fact, nearly all the images you see below were envisioned while walking through the tour; we had to think fast and we were on a time schedule with a very kind tour guide.
I had my trusty Profoto B1 light with me the whole time and I’m so glad I did because much of the medieval castle areas were dark. While I had not even met Jason and Jennifer before arriving, and they had some ideas of what they wanted, they were the sweetest couple and just told me to do my thing with the camera. I love my job and working with couples who want me to create magic for them. Here are some of the images below of what was created together.
