I met with Brett and Julie downtown Sacramento at a local Starbucks, and instantly knew I would like this couple. They were so kind and enthusiastic about my photography work and style (which is a plus for a photographer). I remember Brett and Julie asked quite a few questions, and were both concerned how I would get them to look like the photographs on my website. They expressed they were not good in front of the camera, didn’t know what to do, and said they would probably need assistance (which is actually something I hear often from couples). I told them what I tell others with the same concerns: Don’t worry about that part, just be yourself, leave that to me. (They did an amazing job).
I remember after our engagement session, they received their images. I remember getting a warm text from Julie before Christmas that read, “WOW!!! That’s all I can say about the pictures ;~)))”
And then later, another text, “I cannot wait to show those pictures to everyone at Christmas, I am so excited!!! Merry Christmas!!!”
And another text, “I’m glad I went with my gut ;~)”
It makes a photographer’s day when a couple expresses palpable happiness over their photographs!
When we arrived to photograph Brett and Julie’s wedding last month, I was thrilled to be working with top of the line vendors, some I have worked with before, and others the first time, AND at the elegant Berghold Estate Vineyard. Both Brett and Julie exchanged gifts before the wedding, showing no resistance to emotion, love, or kind words for each other. We stayed until everyone waved their magic wands (sparklers) as Brett and Julie walked through the tunnel of light holding hands and smiles!
(By the way, I’m excited to share with you all, the first image you see here won the “Best of Show” award at the Amador County Fairground Professional Print Competition this week. I was happy with a good first place, but then to see it move to best of division and then Best of show, I have to say I was beside myself. You can see it this weekend on display when the fair opens to the public.)
