What an honor to photograph this cute San Francisco couple Louie and Kiki, who’ve been married 64 years.  They are in their 80’s now and attend weekly dancing classes. I also photographed a few other couples in a donated photo shoot which I hope to post later.  The three couples were requested because of how long they have been married, and their commitment to marriage. They are examples to us all.  Marriage can be difficult sometimes, and we often hear the bad news, but I wanted to bring something positive and inspiring to the table.

Typically we wedding photographers show off the young and beautiful couples whom we photograph (by default of when most couples get married).  Rarely do we photograph those who have been married for quite sometime.  This is one couple who inspired me while I was in San Francisco photographing John and Kate’s wedding.  During the reception, Louie and Kiki were dancing like nobody’s business and making us all look bad, smiling, looking in each others eyes in love.  Everyone applauded them as they won the “who’s been married the longest” dance.  I stared at them (and I think everyone did too) and thought, what an honor, what a great moment, and what a great couple. I hope one day to be like them.  Eleni Alevizos was quoted as saying, “My grandparents’ love for each other has always been a source of inspiration for me; what they have is what every couple hopes and strives for, they are deeply in love.”

Probably my favorite part of the photo shoot is when I asked them to dance and show off their moves.  So, they requested Benny Goodman.  I downloaded “Sweet Georgia Brown” off my iphone, hit the play button, and that was the tune of their dance.

The San Francisco Chronicle recently published some of these images in their newspaper, with one of the images making the front cover of the Saturday edition before I even got a chance to reveal anything. It’s been a busy wedding season, and I still have other projects, but I at least wanted to get these images out in compliment to the SF Chronicle.  Congratulations to you both Louie and Kiki, we celebrate with you!

Wow, awesome photos today in Jackson, California! I had another fantastic time shooting Nicole for senior sessions. She was real easy to photograph. I had some ideas come to me while driving, so we ventured off our path to another place for photos. I love it when creativity tickles my imagination, and then you have to ask permission to drive on people’s property to get what you’re after. Later today, I shot a wedding of a couple who have had spouses pass, and now they are remarrying. It was beautiful. Short wedding, but sweet. Here are some awesome photos of the senior portraits I shot today. Next, I need to upload the wedding photos onto the computer, and then finish processing Julie hoyle’s wedding photos!!

Btw,…this week, I reserved three (3) more wedding dates, one near Modesto soon, and another in San Francisco next year,….really cool!! The other one is next month near Murphy’s, Ca. with Jen Arterbury assisting me as a second photographer (from Montana). It will be at Laraine’s Winery with a wonderful Bay area couple, Dana + Zui! Wow, are they organized!?! (Laraine winery looks like Napa, California).  Dana really does look like Olympic record breaker, Michael Phelps.
