THE HIDEOUT at KIRKWOOD

I was at The Hideout at Kirkwood this past weekend meeting with engaged couples who were considering booking or have already booked their wedding at this unique adventurous wedding venue. I hiked around the property to the backwoods, and beyond to explore different wedding photo angles for couples. I photograph many mountain weddings each year around Tahoe, northern California and around the world, including the epic Mt. Everest wedding last year that went viral around the world. I’m always looking for something different and epic for every couple.

Down the street from where I live is this ridiculous secluded mountain venue that has even attracted the TV Show The Bachelor to the film one of their seasons. It was all built by hand by Tom, BJ, and their two sons, Dusty and Josh. When you drive up the dirt road off hwy 88, you enter this scenic view of a private cabin on the lake, surrounded by the rocky mountains. Your first time is a jaw dropper, and makes you want to build your own log cabin on a lake. This is truly a wedding venue for those who love the outdoors.

A benefit is when you book with The Hideout, they give you the property for 3-4 days, allowing for family and close friends to sleep in the lodge and Saloon, even camp out. The average wedding size is around 50-200 people and their ceremony site is surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest land, seating up to approximately 165 guests on their log benches. They allow you to swim in the lake, bring your dog, camp out, hike, and fish (catch and release). Kirkwood is 12 miles away allowing extra lodging as well as Bear River Resort down hwy 88. They provide chairs and tables for up to 200 guests and they have power via solar and generators (yes, they are completely off-grid). They are just about booked out this year, but you can call to see if they have your dates available.

2019 OFFER FOR WEDDING COVERAGE

If you’re booking this wedding venue for 2018/2019, I am offering for this year only with a purchase 8 or 10 hour wedding package, a next day photo shoot at no charge, my 4 hour adventure couple’s session on the property while there that week. The 4hour photo shoot must take place on a Monday thru a Friday.

Wedding at the Hyatt Regency Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Kelly and Heather married last month at the Lake Tahoe Hyatt Regency hotel and I was honored to have been asked to document this military family wedding. I have full respect for those who serve and sacrifice to allow us the freedoms we enjoy. Even though there were servicemen present, there was also lots of laughter, comedy, smiles, and special family moments.

Kelly and Heather have a great story to tell. They have known and liked each other since they were kids. This day of celebration was a culmination of years spent together which according to their high school yearbook was “the couple most destined to stay together.” Not only have they known each other and been together for a long time, but their smiles radiated off one another as if it was their first date. They are the sweetest couple, friendly to everyone, and respectful to their families who have raised them well. These type of weddings are inspiring and I appreciate the unique stories from every couple I photograph. Everyone has a story, and I love learning about people. Congratulations to Kelly and Heather as they begin the other part of their story together.
