I flew over to Kansas City, Missouri to photograph the riveting wedding of Andrew and Natasha. I love traveling to diverse locations where I’ve never set foot, because each scene gives me fresh inspiration to create something extraordinary and true.
In Andrew and Natasha’s wedding, there were many wonderful moments. I definitely had a super time, as I put the camera down and got my dance on. And while there was much celebration and excitement, I can tell you this wedding, out of all the weddings I’ve photographed, brought the most tears to my eyes. I could barely take pictures at one point because it was too emotional. Natasha has a father who could not attend the wedding because he’s in prison. The wedding day fell on his birthday, and since he couldn’t be there to dance with his girl, he took the time to write a song and had someone record it onto a Cd. When the father/daughter dance was up, the song began to play. Natasha danced with her uncle, Mike Huss. It didn’t matter that the lyrical content wasn’t polished, nor the rhyme right on. We were all too allured with the story and the message of the song, wishing he could be there to dance with her. There were several verses that kept your attention. After tears, Andrew, her new husband, came up to her, took his bride by the hand, and then embraced her. Beautiful song, beautiful moment, beautiful wedding. Here are just a few images of the wedding in Kansas City.
