I recently flew out to Kansas City, Missouri to photograph Andrew and Natasha’s engagement session, and had been definitely entertained by the pleasant fall colors everywhere. We traveled from destination to destination to photograph a variety of venues, and they introduced me to some high end competitive BBQ restaurants (before heading to Texas a few weeks later to be challenged by other BBQ heavy hitters). Both Andrew and Natasha are having a barn wedding in Independence, MO., and I’ll be returning in March of 2011 to document it as their wedding photojournalist.
While in Kansas City, they took me downtown to the beautiful evening lights, to the bridges over a quiet downtown river, and we watched the horses trot down the street with with people in what looked like Cinderella carriages. I almost felt like I was in Europe for a quick moment. We walked on top of a monument to see the whole city. They took me over to an urban organic coffee shop called, Broadway Cafe and Roastery. I went to their Andrew’s parents home, whom were really nice. Where they lived, it seemed that every home we passed was perfect with beautiful trees out front.
I love traveling to different states as a wedding photographer and capturing something new. There are different smells, feels, sights, landscapes, experiences, cultures, beliefs, etc., everywhere I go, and I really push myself to capture the whole experience of while there. Here are a few teasers from Andrew and Natasha’s pre-wedding engagement session.
